Morning proceed to visit Kalakshetra “School of Performing Arts” founded by Rukmini Devi Arundale. Kalakshetra was founded “in order that India may once again revive and develop its ancient culture and set a standard of true Art in its new life after freedom. Continue your tour of Chennai and visit Marina Beach (World second largest beach) after Cox’s bazaar beach. visit Fort St. George (Closed on Friday and Public Holidays) a testament to the earliest British rule in the country, this was the first fortress in India built in 1644. Visit to the famous 16th century Kapaleeshwarar temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, sacred to Tamil Shivaties. Non-Hindus are only allowed up to the outer courtyard. Santhome Church in Chennai also known as Santhome Cathedral Basilica. Santhome Cathedral is a historical and ancient pilgrim centre, which was built during the 14th to the 15th century A D by the then reigning, Portuguese.

After breakfast proceed for Mahabalipuram. En-route visiting Kanchipuram.
Kanchipuram known as the City of 1000 Temples and for its temple architectures, thousand pillared halls, huge temple towers and world famous silk sarees. Kanchipuram has become one of the most important tourist destinations and attract tourist from all over the world. Here you can visit Kamakshi Amman Temple dedicated to the Goddess Kamakshi, the temple is so old that it is believed to have been built by the Pallavas. And Varadaraja Perumal Temple is one of the most sacred Vaishnavite temple, the varadaraja Perumal Temple in Kanchi is one of the 108 Divya Desams. Among vaishnavites, the term “Perumal” refers to Vishnu and “Kovil“ refers to Temple. This temple also has a thousand pillared hall.

Mahabalipuarm also known as Mamallapuram, is a coastal town in Tamil Nadu. It is situated 55 kms from Chennai and considered one of most popular and beautiful towns in Tamil Nadu. Today Mahabalipuram is a UNESCO World Heritage Site of its numerous temples that were carved from the rocks at the Coromandel Coast during the 7th and 8th centuries. It was one of the two major port cities in the Pallava kingdom. The town was named after the Pallava King Mahabali Narasimhavarman. Today Mahabalipuram is one of most visited tourist destination in Tamil Nadu.

Shore Temple A UNESCO World Heritage site built in the seventh century, the Shore Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Shore Temple is the most fascinating structure of Mahabalipuram. Every tourist trail begins from the shore temple. It is an architectural marvel standing tall by the beach. This place looks epic during sunset which is the perfect time for photography enthusiasts.
Rathas Pancha Rathas are one of the nine monolithic temples of Mahabalipuram and probably the most beautiful and detailed. It is the standing landmark of monolithic rock-cut of the Indian architecture. One of the UNESCO world heritage site was created during the time period of Pallava ruler Narsimha Varman-I in the 7th and 8th centuries. The Five Rathas are named after the legendary Pandavas, Yudhistara, Arjuna, Bhima, Nakula & Sahadeva and their wife Draupadi. The statues of an elephant, lion and Nandi bull are displayed along with the rathas. Though these temples are named after the Pandava brothers, they are not related to Mahabharata.
Descent of the Ganges or Arjuna's Penance Arjuna’s Penance is known by two names as experts disagree on the stories depicted by it. As per one view, the massive rock sculpture has been named after one of the heroes of the great Indian Epic, Mahabharata. It is believed to illustrate an instance from Mahabharata when Arjuna, one of the Pandavas, performed rigorous austerities to get Shiva’s weapon and destroy his enemies. The second view is that Arjuna’s Penance is a depiction of the incident when King Bhagiratha of India did penance to bring the River Ganges down, from heaven to earth, so as to purify the souls of his ancestors.

Pondicherry, now known as Puducherry and also known as Paris of the East is the most visited, popular and one of the most scenic beach retreats. This charming town has retained its old-world charm and comes very close to giving you a feel of the French culture without actually being in France. The peaceful, old French town is blended with colonial heritage, millennial trappings, and the pristine beauty of the expansive bay and sparkling shores.
Visiting Auroville was conceived as a place of research into the idea of human unity by the Mother, the spiritual collaborator of Sri Aurobindo. Matrimandir, which is the Sanskrit word for 'Temple of The Mother', is the most important edifice of the Auroville township in Pondicherry. Located just in the middle of Auroville in a large open area known as 'Peace', Matrimandir is fondly known as the 'soul of the city' and holds crucial spiritual significance for those who practice Integral Yoga. Pondicherry Museum, also know as the Pondy Museum, is located in the Bharathi Park of Pondicherry. It exhibits a wide range of artifacts and narrates the story of the city’s rich cultural heritage. Artifacts like stones, jewelry, coins, bronze statues and stone sculptures depicting the vibrant life of the Pallava and Chola dynasties.
de Notre Dame Des Anges Church means “The Church of Our Lady of Angels”Bulit aound 1855 and is said to be the one of he oldest Church in Pondicherry. The original structure was built in Greco Roman architecture by Napoleon III. Tourist can see the rare oil painting of Our Lady of Assumption presented to the church by famous French Emperor Napoleon III.
Later enjoy the walking tour of local market. Explore the colorful, lively markets of Pondicherry. It has most famous streets and experience its bustling lanes, where you'll see an endless variety of items, flowers, fruits, vegetables, spices, cloth, textiles, jewellery and even necessities. After breakfast proceed for Swamimamali. En-route visiting Gangaikonda Cholapuram and Darasuram.
Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple, also known as the Brihadeeswarar temple (Shiva Temple) is considered among the largest temples in the country and is a fine example of Dravidian architecture during the Chola era. The temple is believed to have been built in 1035 AD by King Rajendra Chola 1, son of King Raja Raja Chola who built the original, much larger Brihadeeswarar temple in Thanjavur.
The Brihadeeswara (Siva Temple) is one of the protected monuments declared by the Archaeological Survey of India. It is assumed that they took three decades to completely build the temple. The architecture of the temple is so similar to the Big Temple in Thanjavur that it looks like a miniature of the Thanjavur temple. It is worth mentioning that the sivalinga in Gagaikonda Cholapuram temple is bigger than the one in the Thanjavur temple.
Darasuram, also called Dharasuram is an ancient temple town in Tamil Nadu and situated 3 kms from Kumbakonam. This town is famous for the 12th century Airavatesvara Temple along with the Periya Nayaki Amman temple, built by Rajaraja Chola II. Airavatesvara Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with Thanjavur Brihadeeswara Temple and Gangaikondacholisvaram Temple. These 3 temples are called the Great Living Chola Temples.
The temple is known for its stone carvings and is a treasure for art and architecture lovers.
The architecture of all the temples (Airavatesvara Temple, Thanjavur Brihadeeswara Temple and Gangaikondacholisvaram Temple) in these places have a lot of similarities with the classic Dravidian stone and rock architecture. The overall temple structure represents a chariot with major deities mentioned in the Vedas and Puranas like Agni, Varuna, Vayu, Brahma, Surya, Vishnu, Saptamtrikas, Durga, Saraswati, Sri devi (Lakshmi), Ganga, Yamuna, Subrahmanya, Ganesha, Kama, Rati and others.
Later continue driver to Swamimalai.
Swamimamali This is one of the six abodes of Lord Subramanya or Karthikeya (In Southern states of India Karthikeya is popular deity and is better known as Murgan). The temple has been built at an elevation of 30 meters (100 feet).
Swamimalai Lord Murgan explained the true meaning of “OM” the scared Pranava mantra to this father “Lord Shiva” depicted as Guru or teacher whilst the recipient of this knowledge, Lord Shiva, is shown as shishya or disciple. The name Swamimalai came into being as a result of this legend and the presiding deity of the temple came to known as Swaminathan.
The shrine to the boy-god Subramanya is situated on top of the hill and the Shrine of Shiva is situated below, indicating the fact that the son and father stood here as master and disciple.

ancient Rock Fort Temples dedicated to Lord Ganapathi, 434 steps cut out
into the rock side and interspersed with shrines, lead to the temple, yet
another flight leads to the temple of Lord Shiva. The ascent is climaxed by
magnificent view of the sacred Kaveri River. Visit Srirangam a massive
temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, which contains within its walls a bazaar, as
well.
After
sightseeing tour of Trichy continue drive to Tanjore.
Visit the beautiful Chola
temple known as the ‘Big Temple’, Brihadeeswarar Temple is dedicated to
Lord Shiva and is amongst one of the largest temples in the country and is an
example of Dravidian architecture during the Chola period. Built by emperor
Raja Raja Chola I and completed in 1010 AD, the temple turned 1000 years old in
2010. The temple is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the
"Great Living Chola Temples", with the other two being the
Brihadeeswarar Temple, Gangaikonda Cholapuram and Airavatesvara temple.

Visiting the sprawling Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace, 17th century palace of the emperor of the Nayak dynasty who ruled Madurai from 1623–1659. This Palace is a classic fusion of Dravidian and Rajput styles.
Followed by visit to the famous Meenakshi Amman Temple also known as Minakshi-Sundareshwara Temple, is one of the oldest and most important temples in India. The temple has a great mythological and historical significance. It is believed that Lord Shiva assumed the form of Sundareswarar (the handsome one) and married Parvati (Meenakshi) at the site where the temple is currently located. Meenakshi Temple was nominated as one of the wonders of the world, but couldn’t make it into the list of ‘Seven Wonders of the World’. However, the temple is definitely one of the ‘Wonders of India.

Thekkady is also called Periyar and sometimes known as Kumily too.
Thekkady is known for its lush greenery and the landscapes with the picturesque

nature and wildlife lover visiting India.

Afternoon enjoy a boat ride at Periyar tiger reserve, visitors stand a better chance of viewing wildlife as the animals come to the lake frequently for drinking water. A variety of avian fauna such as darters, egrets and kingfishers can be seen resting on dead tree trunks that stick out over the lake.

Kalaripayittu (Kerala martial art performance) at a theatre in Thekkady. Kalaripayattu is considered one of the most ancient martial arts in the world that originated in Kerala . It’s a gift to the modern world and known as the mother of all martial arts. Kalaripayittu is an ancient traditional fighting system that originated in Kerala. Traditionally people practising this art form were those who were trained for the battlefield to protect the land. Kalaripayattu, training system includes sticks, dagger, knife, spear, sword and shield, Urumi and healing meathods. Regional variants are classified according to geographical position in Keral. There are mainly two types of Kalarippayattu: –Vadakkan or Nothern style – The Vadakkan Kalarippayattu is predominantly practiced in the Malabar region of Kerala emphasizes more on graceful body movement and the weaponry. Thekken or Southern Style- The Thekken Kalarippayattu or Adi Murai is practiced mainly in the Travancore region, this style involves more free armed techniques & powerful movements.

Upon arrival embark the private houseboat, your private houseboat for an enchanting journey through the Backwaters. These boats are a reworked version of kettuvallams of olden times -once used to carry tons of rice and spices, today are converted into comfortable floating accommodation. Journey through the palm fringed canals enjoying the beauty of rural village life. A sumptuous Keralan Meal is served on board. Later in time transferred to Mettupalayam railway station to board train for Udhagamandalam.
The Nilgiri Mountain Railway toy train established in the early 19th century by the British. The railway opened 1899 and was completed in 1908. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2005. The quaint toy train pulls blue and cream wooden carriages with large windows.
The Nilgiri Mountain Railway is 46 kilometers (28.5 miles) long. It passes through many tunnels and bridges. The railway is particularly picturesque because of the surrounding rocky terrain, ravines, tea plantations, and thickly forested hills. The most spectacular scenery and best views are situated along the stretch from Mettupalayam to Coonoor.

Botanical Garden is one of the most popular place to visit in Ooty. It is placed on the slopes of the Doddabetta peak and spread over an area of 22 acres.
The Gardens have around a hundred species, both exotic and indigenous of plants, shrubs, ferns, trees, herbal and bonsai plants. This garden is divided into six sections. Lower Garden, New Garden, Italian Garden, Conservatory, Fountain Terrace and Nurseries . In the Botanical garden, there are more than 600 species of plants and flowers.
Dodabetta Peak is the highest mountain in the Nilgiri Mountains ranges. It is 9 Kms from the Udhagamandalam. Also offers a delightful view of the greenery of the place. Apart from the cloud-kissing hills, attractions like picturesque plantations, cascading waterfalls, lovely landscapes, and gushing rivers make this a blissful destination is feast for the eyes.
Raj Bhavan of Udhagamandalam is the Summer residence of the Governor of Tamil Nadu. And bulit in 1877 by The Duke of Buckingham.
Udhagamandalam Tea Factory or Tea Museum is situated on the Doddabetta Road in Ooty. Surrounded by emerald green tea plantations, the museum takes you on a tour of tea evolution from the origin to the present.

Visit Mysore Palace also known as the Amba Vilas Palace is a historical palace in the city of Mysore in Karnataka. Designed by the English Architect, Henry Irwin, the Mysuru Palace is one of the finest achievements of Indo-Saracenic architecture with blends of the Hindu, Mughal, Rajput, and Gothic styles. built between 1897-1912, the palace has beautifully designed square towers at cardinal points, covered with domes. The Palace has four entrances. Main entrance is called “Jaya Maarthaanda” to the east, “Jayarama” to the North, ”Balarama” to the South and “Varaha” to the west. Apart from architecture, the palace is also known for its impeccable roof art, tiles and mosaics, paintings of the royal family and festive possessions.
Temple is famously known as Chamundeshwari Temple. It is located on the eastern side of Mysore, on the top of Chamundi hill at the height of 1000 ft. Mysore, Srirangapatna is an island formed by the river Cauvery and was the
capital of the father-son duo of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan.it has a great
spiritual, cultural and historic significance. within its premises is the
famous Ranganathaswamy Temple. One of the most important Vaishnavite centres of
pilgrimage in South India. The Srirangapatna temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu
and is one of the largest temples in Karnataka.
Daria Daulat (Palace of Tipu Sultan) and Gumbaz (Mausoleum of Tipu Sultan) are other palaces to visit Srirangapatna. Hindus come from far and wide to Srirangapatna to immerse the ashes of the departed and perform rituals.

Shravanbela Gola is an sacred Jain pilgrimage destination which is located towards the north-west of Bangalore. Is home to the 18 m high statue of Lord Bahubali (Gometeshwara), considered to be one of the world’s tallest free-standing monolithic statues. Bulit in 981 AD by Chamundaraya, a Ganga warrior by a single block of granite and looms on the top of Vindhyagiri Hill. It is visible up to 30 km away. There are nearly 700 steps hewn in the rock-face which must be climbed to have a close-up view of this colossal magic. It is a famous place for people who want to experience and learn more about Jain culture, beliefs, and traditions.

These twin cities Belur and Halebid, which are only 17 kilometers apart from each other and are together the most popular tourist destinations and were once the capital of the Hoysala empire. The empire covered a large part of South India. It weakened after several wars with Muslim rulers. The Belur and Halebidu temples are cut from chloritic schist – a soft stone allowing for intricately carved temple walls. The Belur and Halebid temples too were damaged and renovated several times throughout history. Still, they have remained the finest examples of the Hoysala temple architecture and belong to the most intricately carved temples in all of India. Both have become UNESCO World Heritage sites.

BELUR TEMPLE Belur, was the first capital of the Hoysala empire. Vishnuvardana (King) ordered the construction of a Vishnu temple at the banks of the Yagachi river. It was built over three generations and took around 103 yrs to finish this masterpiece of architecture. And as a result it is one of the most beautiful Hoysala temples and one of the most intricately carved temples in India. The temple complex has a main temple, and many small temples and mandapas. On the corner, they had a tank as well.
The dramatic and miraculous aspects of mythology are also beautifully depicted all over the temple, which is remarkable for its architecture, sculptures, reliefs, friezes as well as its iconography, inscriptions, and history.
HALEBID TEMPLE Halebid means the Old City and it was the capital of the Hoysala empire. It stands on the banks of the Dwarasamudra Lake in Halebid. This place is famous for the temples built during the Hoysala rule. The Helebid Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and among the largest temples built by the Hoysalas. Vishnuvardhana (King) started the construction of this temple. It was attacked by Allaudin Khilji and other Muslim Emperors during that time thus got the name Halebeedu means ruin city. This is the most significant monument dedicated to Lord Shiva in Southern India. It is a twin temple which means there are actually two temples. One has a shrine to King Hoysaleshwara and the other to the queen goddess Shantaleshwara, the two temples are joined by a common verandah. There are also two shrines with a nandi bull facing a Shiva lingam. The outer walls are full with carvings, sculptures and reliefs. The lower bands depict animals such as swans, horses, swans, elephants and other mythical creatures.

Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace Is one of the most popular tourist spot of Bangalore. Is an example of Indo-Islamic architecture and was the summer residence of the Mysorean ruler Tipu Sultan was often called as the ‘Abode of Happiness’ and ‘Envy of Heaven’ by the constructor himself. Hyder Ali commenced its construction in 1781 within the walls of the Bangalore Fort, and it was completed during the reign of Tipu Sultan in 1791.
Lalbagh Botanical Garden Is even older than Cubbon park. It was Hyder Ali that planned the botanical garden, but like the renovation of the Bangalore Fort it was Tipu Sultan that finished it. Tipu Sultan wanted it to be like the Mughal gardens from Persia that also adorned many of the Mughal architecture in places like Delhi and Agra. He imported plants and trees from different countries. spanning about 240 acres, this garden has a large collection of tropical plants and more than 1000 species of vegetation are found. The main attractions of the Lalbagh botanical garden Bangalore are the glasshouse, an aquarium, and a lake. These are adding the beauty of the garden.
