Award-winning luxury train tour Palace on Wheels, can make you feel like royalty. The iconic Palace on Wheels was launched in 1982, making it the oldest of India's luxury trains. One of the most memorable ways to experience India's stately splendor is to travel on the Palace on Wheels.

The Palace on Wheels luxury train criss crosses some of the ancient princely states of the 'land of kings', vibrant Rajasthan, where views of camel-studded sand dunes are accompanied by a bewitching dose of culture and the chance to witness some of India's most compelling traditions in action and admire some of its incredible wildlife.

Highlights include a camel ride in the sand dunes at Jaisalmer followed by Tea and a cultural show, a sound and light show at Chittorgarh, and boat ride in Udaipur.

You'll feel royal indeed, as you travel in style through Rajasthan and visit the Taj Mahal.

In this tour, you will starting your journey from Delhi (Heart of India), cover Jaipur (the Pink City), Rajasthan's wildlife-rich Ranthambore National Park, enjoy light & sound show program at Chittorgarh Fort, Udaipur (City of Lakes & Palaces) boat ride at Lake Pichola, Jaisalmer (the Golden City), Jodhpur (the Blue City) and world-famous Bharatpur bird sanctuary. After leaving Rajasthan, you'll visiting Agra, the world's most famous monument of love and romance, before returning to New Delhi, the capital.

Itinerary

Welcome on arrival at Safdarjung Railway Station at 1600 Hrs. (Red Carpet, Garlanding by Girls, Sehnai, Soft Drink and Welcome drink in Bar)

You will be escorted to your cabin and given a brief familiarization tour by the Khidmatgars (a male waiter) with a welcome drink, as we start our week-long journey through Rajasthan.

You will be treated like a Maharaja and Maharani (king and queen). The capital city of modern India, Delhi is known for its rich and exotic history.

Feel free to explore your new palace, and acquaint yourself with its various facilities. Relax with a drink at the bar.

Depart from Delhi at 1830 Hrs from Jaipur

Overnight on board Palace on Wheels Train 

Your first stop will be at the magnificent Pink City, Jaipur. The city displays graceful architecture in a unique pink shade. Established in 1727 by the then Maharaja, Sawai Jai Singh II, Jaipur is known as one of the most well-planned cities of its time.The capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur is predominantly known for its musicians, artisans and craftsmen. Today, it is visited for its fine jewellery, varied textiles and sumptuous cuisine.

0700 Hrs Breakfast on board.

Later welcome with Rangoli, Shenai, Garlanding by Girls, Decorated Elephant, Kachi Godi Dance at Jaipur railway station.

After welcome at Jaipur railway station board the coach and proceed for sightseeing tour of Jaipur.

Visit to Albert Hall Museum, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, City Palace, Elephant ride while going to Amber Fort followed by Lunch.

After visiting Amber Fort coming back to bus by Jeep. Shopping while returning to train.

Departure for Sawai Madhopur at 2000 hrs from Durgapura Railway Station to Jaipur.

After the exquisite architectural landmarks, the perfect place to experience the other side of the royal charm is Sawai Madhopur. Named after its king, Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I, this place is in close proximity to the famous Ranthambore National Park.

This wildlife park is home to various species of animals but the ones that capture most attention are its graceful tigers. The forest also houses the ruins of the ancient fort from the 10th century. Chittorgarh, the land of glory and valour, is bound to leave you enchanted. This captivating place has an intriguing and spellbinding history. The land of devotion and determination, Chittorgarh has produced some of the greatest devotees and courageous warriors in the history of India. Chittorgarh remains replete with historic associations and holds a very special place in the hearts of Rajputs, as it was the bastion of the clan at a time when every other stronghold had succumbed to invasion.

Early morning at 0600 hrs proceed for Ranthambhore National Park visit by open canter. One of the most popular reserves in India with a rich history. Apart from the tigers, you can also spot sloth bear, leopard, caracal, jackal, fox, hyena and mongoose at Ranthambore.The elusive Indian wolf too, has been spotted here occasionally.

After Park visit safari canter will take you back to the Palace on Wheels.

Depart from Sawai Madhopur railway station at 1030 hrs for Chittorgarh.

1600 Hrs arrive Chittorgarh railway station

After welcome at Chittorgarh railway station proceed for sightseeing tour of Chittorgarh Fort is a fitting symbol of the Rajput spirit. Set atop a 180 metre high hill and spread across 240 hectares, this majestic fort features in tales of courage, pride and romance that the bards of Rajasthan have been singing for centuries.

Later in the evening enjoy light & sound show

Early morning departing from Chittorgarh to Udaipur.

The land of marvellous beauty, Udaipur is named after Rana Udai Singh, the dynamic ruler of this princely state. This City of Lakes has a long, glorious history and is also considered as the romantic city of Rajasthan, thanks to the endless love sagas of its rulers. Revel in its history and architectural splendours and return with an array of exquisite souvenirs.

0800 Hrs Arrive Udaipur railway station.

Later proceed for sightseeing tour of Udaipur by coach. Visiting Sahalio Ki Bari Built by Maharana Sangram Singh II as a garden for women, Saheliyon-ki-Bari or the Garden of the Maidens is a popular tourist destination. Along with a small museum, it has several attractions such as marble elephants, fountains, kiosks and a lotus pool. And City Palace in Udaipur was built in a flamboyant style and is considered the largest of its type in the state of Rajasthan. It was built atop a hill, in a fusion of the Rajasthani, Rajput architecture providing a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings.

Later in the afternoon enjoy boat ride at lake pichola

Day two unfolds in the heart of the desert at Jaisalmer, the Golden City of India. Jaisalmer is christened after its founder Rawal Jaisal and means 'the hill fort of Jaisal', which was established in the year 1156.

The bustling city is full of rustic beauty, and the yellowish hue of the sand justifies the name rendered to the monochromatic landscape. The once-affluent havelis, intricately carved balconies, cornices and façades decorate the city and have made it an architectural delight.

0830 Hrs Arrive Jaisalmer

After welcome proceed for sightseeing tour of Jaisalmer 

Visiting Gadsisar Lake is an artificial lake The lake is located about 1.5 km from Jaisalmer Fort. It is said that this lake once provided water to the entire city. Jaisalmer Fort UNESCO World Heritage Site – also known as Golden Fort of Rajasthan, see the Citadel, the fort built by Rawal Jaisal where a fourth of the population lives. Fort is 250 foot tall which is protected by 30 feet long walls and constitutes 99 bastions. The golden and yellow mixed sandstone offer magical look to the Fort. Rising from the desert sands like a mirage, the fort is a real sight with its 99 turrets during the night and Patwon Ki Haveli.

Later in the afternoon proceed for Sum Sand Sunes in Thar Desert and enjoy Camel ride.

2300 Hrs Depart from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur

Jodhpur, the land of majestic and mystic glory, welcomes you warmly. Currently the second largest city of Rajasthan, Jodhpur was established in the year 1459 by Rao Jodha, a Rajput king. The magic of imperial living is still alive in the various forts and palaces that abound in the city.

In this royal paradise, also known as the blue city for its indigo hue, even the most ordinary houses have exquisite stonework, traceries and carved latticed windows.

0900 Hrs proceed for sightseeing tour of Jodhpur. Visit of Mehrangarh Fort Located in the Sun City Jodhpur, Mehrangarh boast for being one of the biggest and largest forts in India. It was built by Rao Jodha in 1495. Jaswant Thada is managed and looked after by the Mehrangarh Museum Trust (MMT) and is open to public. The Trust is operating a Museum in Jaswant Thada displaying portraits of Marwar rulers along with informative didactics – the information serves as orientation space to understand the history of Marwar through the Portraits. And visit of Umaid Bhawan museum Museum, also known as Government Museum, Jodhpur, is located inside the Umaid Bhavan Palace, one of the largest residential palace of the world.

Established in the 17th century by Maharaja Suraj Mal, Bharatpur was once an invincible and well-fortified city. Aptly called the iron fort, its stern military construction helped fight off many a foreign siege.

Bharatpur is close to the Keoladeo Ghana National Park, a world heritage site as declared by UNESCO. This region attracts a large variety of birds such as the Siberian crane, storks, herons, kingfishers, partridges, owls, songbirds, pigeons, doves, ducks, geese, pelicans and bee-eaters, some of which migrate from different parts of the world. Agra is located on the banks of the river Yamuna and was established in 1504 by the then ruler of Delhi, Sultan Sikandar Lodi. Agra has witnessed the rise and fall of numerous dynasties over the centuries. The city is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal. This white marble wonder expands on the design traditions of Persians and Mughals, and is one of the most visited sites in India. You will then visit the Red Fort of Agra, also called the Palatial City because of its enormous size.

0500 Hrs Arrive Bharatpur

Departure for KeolaDeo National Park (Ghana Bird Sanctuary) 

0830 Hrs Return to train for breakfast.

Later proceed for sightseeing tour of Agra Fort, UNESCO world heritage site is situated just 2.5 Kms from Taj Mahal and major tourist attraction.

Lunch at hotel.

After lunch visiting Taj Mahal, (One of the Seven wonders of the world) is a breathaking white-marble mausoleum commissioned by Mughul emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore described as "the tear-drop on the cheek of time".

(Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays), followed by shopping.

This is your final morning on board and you will de-board the train at the Safdarjung Railway station, Delhi.
